  • Are welded boards and kayaks better than just glued ones?
Our Advanced Selytech V2 adhesive and the latest generation of our double-taped seams are very sophisticated, are constantly being improved and have proven themselves over many years. Nevertheless, the additional welded seam protects and prevents the board or kayak from leaking over time. This complex process makes the products more durable and durable than those that have only been glued. The use of high-quality dropstitch material, high-quality glue and the competent manufacture of the products are just as important for longevity.
  • Why should I trust Da Vinci® and buy from you?
Three good reasons why you can trust us and our products: Long-term use of our own products in the rental sector: Here, our quality proves itself under real conditions and intensive use every day. Free test options in our test center at Brombachsee: We offer you the opportunity to test our products free of charge so that you can convince yourself. Our personal and honest service: We respond to your individual needs and together we will find the right solution for you.
  • Why can't I find reviews of Da Vinci boards or kayaks online?
Unfortunately, many test portals are no longer concerned with presenting the best quality and promoting the sport, but mainly with earning the highest possible commissions. This can be seen above all from the fact that the cheapest kayaks - often regardless of the handling characteristics - regularly top the lists. In addition to material and quality tests, our Da Vinci SUP boards and kayaks are also tested by hundreds of end users under real conditions in our rental stations and prove themselves here again and again. We believe that every interested party should have the opportunity to test the products themselves and get an idea of them. Therefore: come by and see for yourself!

In the rare case of damage or a problem during a warranty period of 2 years, we ask you to first send us a complaint by email with the following content: Serial number (attached to the side panel of the SUP / kayak) Photo of the damaged area Photo of the entire product to assess overall condition Detailed description of the problem Receipt of payment / invoice with date of purchase If no decision can be made based on this data, you can send us the board so that we can assess the damage on site and then find a suitable solution. We ask for your understanding that we cannot assume any liability for damage and defects resulting from improper use, operation and storage, negligent or faulty care and maintenance, overuse or improper repairs. Normal, usage-related wear and tear or signs of wear are also excluded.
  • How long does it take to set up the kayak?
Thanks to the uncomplicated system, you can set up the kayak in about 15 minutes and you are ready to go. After unfolding, you need about 10 minutes to inflate the three air chambers with 0.7 bar / 10 PSI with the efficient double-stroke pump. Then you have to hang in the seats with the carabiners and attach the footrests. Now all that's missing is the fin and you're good to go!
  • Can I really put the kayak back in my bag?
Yes! With a little practice, dismantling and packing up the kayak is no problem. It is best to let the kayak dry well before packing it up and remove any dirt (sand, small stones, etc.) so that the kayak is not damaged during storage. The markings on the kayak show you the folds. Tip: When unpacking for the first time, take your time and fold the kayak back up a few times to get some practice.
  • Isn't the Da Vinci kayak too heavy?
The pack dimensions and weight of our Vario Kayaks 450+ (19kg, 80 x 40 x 50cm - without accessories) and 375+ (13.9kg, 75 x 40 x 45cm - without accessories) may seem big at first, but Please don't forget that these are quality double-layer kayaks with a length of 4.50m or 3.75m. Please keep in mind that the lower weight and smaller pack size are mainly achieved by using thinner material, fewer threads and omitting the hard shell tips. As a result, the kayak also noticeably loses stability and gliding ability on the water. If the kayak is too light, it becomes very susceptible to wind and easy to turn, which can also negatively affect straight-line stability and gliding behavior. The Da Vinci Canoa Vario kayaks are comparatively light and compact to transport, but still have enough weight to give you enormous tipping stability and a safe ride on the water. Because the lightest kayak is useless if you don't use it due to poor handling or instability!
  • Why are dropstitch kayaks more expensive than traditional kayaks?
The many advantages of a dropstitch kayak over a conventional kayak come at a price. Dropstitch kayaks are much more complex and time-consuming to design and manufacture than conventional kayaks and inflatable boats. Of course, the quality of the materials used, the density and quality of the dropstitch threads and the working conditions of the workers on site also have a major impact on the price difference. Nevertheless, the significantly better driving experience, the increased durability and the feeling of a hard-shell kayak will be absolutely worth the extra charge from a paddling point of view!
  • What do I do if I have a hole in the kayak?
Our inflatable kayaks are robust and durable. The hard PVC tips normally absorb an impact and reliably protect the air chambers. Should the kayak nevertheless lay flat or scrape, the double-layer dropstitch fabric of the floor is protected by the bottom skin made of highly tear-resistant and abrasion-resistant 1,100 denier polyester (military quality). Nevertheless, sharp edges or stones can damage the boat skin or air chambers. In this case, a repair similar to a SUP board is possible. The repair kit supplied contains the required material and glue. If in doubt, the boat should be inspected by a specialist shop.
  • How long does a dropstitch kayak last?
The service life depends heavily on the use and handling of the kayak. With good handling and maintenance, it can last for years. A kayak with high-quality PVC layers is more durable than cheaper variants. The seams also determine the durability of an inflatable kayak. Glue, for example, will decompose over time, which is why the seams of the Da Vinci kayaks are additionally welded with hot air in a complex process to increase durability. If you take good care of your inflatable kayak, you will enjoy it for many years to come.
  • What is the correct paddle length for my double paddle?
The optimal paddle length depends on your body size, boat width and your technique and can change over time. If you're a beginner, it's a good idea to try different lengths to see what you're most comfortable with. The following table serves as a guide:
  • Is the Da Vinci canoe difficult to transport?
The Da Vinci canoe folds up and is much easier to transport than a composite or wooden canoe. But please consider that the Da Vinci canoe is a 5m long boat with a weight of approx. 30kg, which of course results in a certain pack size. The Da Vinci Dropstitch canoe can be used by two or three people, offers a lot of storage space and is still about 33% lighter than conventional canoes. The use of high-quality materials and special hard shells at the bow and stern makes the canoe a little heavier, but at the same time significantly more robust and durable.
  • What seats does the canoe have?
The Da Vinci canoe is perfectly complemented by our premium webbing seats made in Germany. The robust ash wood is the perfect choice and defies the effects of sun, water and salt. The robust, handcrafted seats offer a comfortable hold even on longer tours and can be moved in position so that you can optimally balance the canoe. PS: We are currently working on a backrest that can be easily attached to the seats. This is expected to be available from May 2023.
  • How long do I need to set up the canoe?
Thanks to the uncomplicated system, you can set up the canoe in about 15 minutes and you are ready to go. After unfolding, you need about 10 minutes to inflate the three air chambers with 0.7 bar / 10 PSI with the efficient double-stroke pump. Then all you have to do is slide the seats in. Now all that's missing is the fin and you're good to go! Tip: Sliding the seats in is easier when the kayak is not fully inflated.
  • Can I put the canoe back in my pocket?
Yes! With a little practice, dismantling and packing up the canoe is no problem. It is best to let the canoe dry well before packing it up and remove any dirt (sand, small stones, etc.) so that it is not damaged during storage. Tip: When unpacking for the first time, take your time and fold the canoe up a few times to give yourself some practice. To be on the safe side, you can also take pictures or a video!
  • Can two people paddle on a SUP board?
Basically, SUP boards are designed for one person and as sports equipment. The maximum loads specified by us have been selected taking into account acceptable driving characteristics. The Da Vinci Boards offer enough load capacity for two people and higher loads, but of course with different riding characteristics than alone. Nevertheless, you can also take children, friends or partners on the board with you in your leisure time without any problems!
  • Is a double chamber always better than just one air chamber?
The double chamber system offers significantly more security in the event of damage to the board and enormous stability in the standing area. If you plan to paddle on large lakes or in the sea, a double chamber board is definitely recommended. However, if you have to or want to pay attention to a very light board, you can save a little weight with the single chamber version by missing the second chamber.
  • Can my dog go on the Da Vinci Board?
The Da Vinci boards are very robust and durable, so you can take your dog paddling with you. However, to protect the board, we recommend a pad (old towel, dog blanket, protective pad, etc.) to protect the Eva deck pad and material, as the dogs still have to get used to the feeling and "claw" themselves, especially on the first rides.
  • What is the difference between cheap and expensive SUP boards?
High-quality dropstitch SUP boards are much more complex and time-consuming to design and manufacture than simpler versions. The quality of the materials used, the glue, the density and quality of the dropstitch threads and the working conditions of the workers on site have a major impact on the price difference. The seams of the Da Vinci SUP boards are also welded with hot air in a complex process to prevent air from escaping and to increase durability. Nevertheless, the significantly better driving experience, the increased durability and the feeling of a hardboard will be absolutely worth the extra charge from a paddling point of view!
  • How long does an inflatable SUP board last?
The service life depends heavily on the use and handling of the SUP board. With good care and maintenance, your board can last for years. A SUP with high-quality PVC layers is more durable than cheaper variants and the seams also determine the durability of an inflatable SUP board. Glue, for example, will decompose over time, which is why the seams of the Da Vinci boards are additionally welded with hot air in a complex process to increase durability. If you take good care of your inflatable SUP board, you will enjoy it for many years to come.
  • How much does a good SUP board weigh?
The weight of an inflatable SUP board plays a decisive role in storage and, above all, transport. However, don't focus too much on a low weight, because this is mainly achieved through thinner material and fewer dropstitch threads. As a result, the SUP also noticeably loses stability and gliding ability on the water. If the SUP is too light, it becomes very susceptible to wind and easy to turn, which can also negatively affect straight-line stability and stability. The Da Vinci SUP boards are light and compact to transport, but still have enough weight to give you enormous stability and a safe ride on the water. Because the lightest board is useless if you don't use it due to poor handling or instability!
